Bremerhaven
Give Bremerhaven one full day and one night: the museum cluster is the trip, the harbour is a walk, and there is no second day of sights.
Bremerhaven is a 19th-century port at the mouth of the Weser, about 50 km north of Bremen and politically part of it. The tourist core is compact: the German Emigration Center, the Maritime Museum with real ships, the Klimahaus and the zoo sit within a few minutes of each other on the waterfront. The fishing port, with its seafood restaurants, is a separate 30-minute walk or short bus ride south. Most travellers come for a day from Bremen or Hamburg, or break a North Sea coast drive here.

No trams; buses cover the city and the fare is a zone ticket. The centre and the museum waterfront are walkable in 15 minutes. The fishing port is about 30 minutes on foot from the centre or a short bus ride. Taxis wait at the station and at the harbour.
