Boise is Idaho's capital and largest city, sitting where the high desert meets the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, on the Boise River. Downtown is compact and walkable, with the Greenbelt path, a Basque Block and a cluster of museums around Julia Davis Park. Most visitors use it as a 2-night base for the foothills and the Snake River Plain, or as a stop between Salt Lake City and the Pacific Northwest. Locals say "Boy-see", not "Boy-zee".
