- Queensland does not use daylight saving: from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April, NSW times are one hour ahead of Goondiwindi times. Check coach and flight times against the right zone.
- Fuel up before long stretches: the next 24 h fuel south is at the Coles Express, and Boomi has no petrol station at all.
- Summer inland heat is the real hazard; carry water on any walk.
A quiet highway village; the real risks are the road (random drug and alcohol testing, 110 km/h limit), summer heat and the lack of banks, taxis and rental cars. Violent crime is not the concern here.
