Get around
Walk Centro (Rua XV de Novembro, Beira-Rio, Praça Hercílio Luz) — pleasant Apr–Dec, hot Jan–Mar. SETERB buses (yellow/light blue) run six terminals; transfers inside terminals are free. Line 33 links Fonte–PROEB via Beira-Rio and Rua 7 de Setembro. Red air-conditioned buses serve downtown and stop only at Garcia and PROEB terminals — flag them down. Taxis are expensive; a taxi from the bus station to downtown is about R$15. Driving is not easy: irregular streets, few signs in neighbourhoods, speed reducers at 50 km/h and red-light cameras.
