Get around
A car is effectively required: the city is built on steep hills and the sights are spread along US-460, US-52 and Route 598. Bluefield Area Transit runs buses Monday–Friday with limited weekend service to Athens, fares about $1–2 (check); it is not a practical way to reach the overlook or the state parks.
