Blarney is a village 9 km northwest of Cork, built around one sight: Blarney Castle and the stone in its battlements. The castle, gardens and Woollen Mills fill three to four hours. Most travellers come on the 215 bus from Cork and leave the same afternoon; the village is small, walkable and quiet after the coaches go.

Scams and watch-outs
- Kissing the stone means lying on your back and leaning out over the parapet, guided by staff. Skip it if you are uneasy with heights or have back or neck problems.
- Castle tickets are sold at the gate and online; queues build from late morning in summer, so go at opening.
- The village is a commuter stop, not a town: after about 18:00 food options thin out.
- Rain is likely any month; the castle walk and battlements are outdoors and stone steps get slippery.
Very safe. The real risks are wet stone steps on the castle climb, traffic on the N20 approach roads and the fact that the village empties out in the evening.
