Bishoftu
ደብረ ዘይት
Half-day trip from Addis Ababa: visit a crater lake, have lunch and return. Not worth a night unless you want a quiet resort stay.
Bishoftu, also called Debre Zeyit, is a resort town 50 km southeast of Addis Ababa, known for five crater lakes, waterbirds and weekend getaways. It works as a short escape from the capital — swim or boat on Lake Hora, eat fresh fish, and be back in Addis by evening. The town has no major sight that demands a full day.
