Bhilwara
Skip Bhilwara unless you work in textiles or need a stop between Udaipur and Ajmer: half a day for the fort and lake, then move on.
Bhilwara is a textile-manufacturing hub in southeast Rajasthan with a handful of sights — a fort, a lake, a temple — that fill a few hours. Most travellers use it as a road or rail stop between Udaipur (2.5 h) and Ajmer (1.5 h). The city has no major tourist infrastructure and the real draw is the Gangaur festival in March–April.

- Hands and feet: Give and eat with the right hand; apologise if your foot touches someone; avoid: Pointing feet at people or shrines; touching books or food with your feet

Scams and watch-outs
- Extreme summer heat (45+ °C): carry water and avoid midday sightseeing.
- Auto-rickshaw drivers may quote inflated fares to tourists; agree on the price upfront.
- Textile factory visits are not tourist-friendly; no formal tours exist.
- Monsoon (Jul–Sep) can flood low-lying roads; check conditions before driving.
Bhilwara is generally safe for tourists, but petty theft can occur in crowded markets. Avoid walking alone late at night in isolated areas. Summer heat is the main health risk.
