Bethel
Bethel, Ohio
Give Bethel half a day for the museum and a drive-in night, or use it as a cheap camp base for East Fork State Park: 1 night, not 3.
Bethel is a village of about 2,700 people in Clermont County, 30 miles east of Cincinnati at the junction of SR 232 and SR 133. It has one small museum, a drive-in cinema and a winery; the real draw is East Fork State Park next door, with camping, a 2,160-acre lake and 32 miles of perimeter trail. Most travellers pass through in an afternoon or sleep one night at the campground.

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Handshake and 'hi, how are you?' — reply 'good, thanks'; avoid: Treating the question as a real health enquiry
- Restaurants: Tip 18–22% and wait for the check; avoid: Leaving without tipping
- Personal space: Keep an arm's length in queues; avoid: Standing close to strangers
- Politics and religion: Listen more than you speak; avoid: Opening with hot-button topics
- Smoking: Smoke only in marked areas; avoid: Smoking near doors or in parks where banned
Scams and watch-outs
- No rideshare coverage is reliable outside the village; arrange your return trip before you go out.
- East Fork trails flood and turn muddy after heavy rain; check park conditions before a long hike.
- The drive-in shows only in the warmer months and cancels in rain: confirm the night's screening first.
- Cell signal is patchy in the state park backcountry.
Bethel is a small, low-crime village; the real risks are rural roads at night, deer on SR 32 and SR 133, and no reliable rideshare after dark. Lock your car at trailheads.
