Benllech
Give Benllech 2 nights as a beach base: sand and the coast path on day one, Beaumaris or South Stack on day two. A car makes it work; buses are thin.
Benllech is a seaside village on the east coast of Anglesey, about 8 miles north of Menai Bridge on the A5025. Its Blue Flag beach and the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path are the reasons to come; the village itself is small, with a handful of cafés, a pub and mostly caravan parks and self-catering. Two nights covers the beach and one day trip. Without a car you are tied to the sparse bus timetable, so most visitors drive or base themselves here for a week of coast walking.

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Handshake at first meeting; 'hi' and first names quickly; avoid: Cheek kisses with strangers
- Conversation: Weather is a safe opener; understatement and self-deprecating humour; avoid: Asking about salary or class
- Queues: Join at the back; avoid: Pushing onto buses or trains before others get off
- Apologies: 'Sorry' is said constantly, even when not at fault; avoid: Taking it as an admission of blame
- Pubs: Buy rounds in a group; wait at the bar without waving money; avoid: Clicking fingers at staff
- Nations: Call Scots Scottish and Welsh Welsh; avoid: Calling the whole UK 'England'
Scams and watch-outs
- Bus service is infrequent and some timetables have changed: check before you rely on it.
- Dogs are restricted on parts of the beach in season: read the signs at the access points.
- Coastal path sections can be muddy and exposed; wear grippy shoes and carry a windproof.
- Many cafés and caravan parks close or run short hours outside Easter–October.
Benllech is a low-crime village and the main risks are environmental: strong currents and fast tides on the beach, slippery cliff-path sections, and narrow lanes with no pavement. Swim between the flags, tell someone your coast-path plan, and carry a charged phone.
