Belgrade
Use Belgrade as an airport bed, not a base: 1 night before or after Yellowstone, 10 min from BZN. Base in Bozeman for sightseeing.
Belgrade sits on I-90 ten miles west of Bozeman and is the town that actually contains Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN), even though the airport carries Bozeman's name. There is no old-town core to tour: Main Street and Jackrabbit Lane hold the services, and the reason to stop is a cheap bed close to an early flight or a late arrival. Everything else — museums, restaurants, Yellowstone access — is in Bozeman, 15–20 minutes east.

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Handshake and 'hi, how are you?' — reply 'good, thanks'; avoid: Treating the question as a real health enquiry
- Restaurants: Tip 18–22% and wait for the check; avoid: Leaving without tipping
- Personal space: Keep an arm's length in queues; avoid: Standing close to strangers
- Politics and religion: Listen more than you speak; avoid: Opening with hot-button topics
- Smoking: Smoke only in marked areas; avoid: Smoking near doors or in parks where banned
Scams and watch-outs
- Distances are in miles and drive times, not walk times: the airport strip is not walkable to downtown Belgrade.
- Winter storms close or slow I-90 and US-191; check Montana road conditions before a ski or park day.
- Yellowstone's west entrance is about 1.5 h away in good weather — do not treat Belgrade as a park base.
- Hotel rates spike on Bozeman event and graduation weekends; book ahead.
Belgrade is a low-crime small town; the real risks are winter driving on I-90 and US-191, wildlife on the road at dawn and dusk, and long distances with no phone signal outside town.
