Romantic things to do in Belfast

Belfast rewards couples who stay central and walk. The Cathedral Quarter, the Lagan towpath and the Titanic Quarter are all close enough to string into one evening without a taxi, and the pubs are the point as much as the sights.

If you have one night, do the walk-and-dinner version. If you have two, add a daytime pick such as Titanic Belfast or the Botanic Gardens, then keep the evening free.

Treat every figure here as a 2026 estimate and confirm before you go. Museum entry in Belfast is generally free at the national collections, while Titanic Belfast and the taxi tours are the paid items. Restaurant prices sit below London and above most of the rest of the UK outside the southeast.

Belfast has two airports. George Best Belfast City Airport is about 10 minutes by train or taxi from the centre. Belfast International is further out, roughly 30–40 minutes by bus or taxi. Both are served by regular services; check the current timetable and fare.

The city centre is compact and walkable. Metro buses cover the Titanic Quarter, Queen's University and Cave Hill, and a day ticket is the simplest option if you plan more than two rides. Trains from Dublin and from the Northern Ireland coast arrive at Lanyon Place and Great Victoria Street.

Book dinner for Friday and Saturday at least a few days ahead; the good rooms in Cathedral Quarter fill up. For a quieter night, aim for Tuesday to Thursday.

Weather changes fast and rain is common in any month. A light waterproof and shoes you can walk in matter more than a plan. If it turns, the Ulster Museum and the pubs are the fallback.

Sunset in June is close to 21:30, which gives you a long evening outdoors. In December it is dark by about 16:00, so move dinner earlier and treat the lit-up city as the walk.

May to September gives the longest evenings and the best chance of a dry walk. June and July are the brightest but also the busiest for hotels. September is often the sweet spot: still light, fewer crowds, lower room rates.

Winter is dark early but the city is at its most atmospheric indoors, and hotel prices drop. Avoid assuming anything is open on Christmas Day and check bank holiday hours, which vary across the year.
