Beiwudang Mountain Scenic Area
北武当山风景区
A half-day trip from Lüliang or a full day from Taiyuan: hike the Taoist peaks, see Tang cave murals, then return. Not a base.
Beiwudang Mountain is a Taoist sacred site in western Shanxi, with 72 peaks, 32 cliffs and 24 streams. It is quieter than Hubei's Wudang Mountains and best visited as a day trip from Lüliang or Taiyuan. The main draws are the mountain hike, Yiju Temple's Tang-dynasty cave murals and An'guo Temple.
