Beaulieu is a small New Forest village built around a single paid attraction: the National Motor Museum, Palace House and the ruins of a 1204 Cistercian abbey, all on one ticket. - New Forest ponies and donkeys roam the village street and car parks. Do not feed or touch them; they bite and kick, and feeding is an offence.
- Dogs are allowed in the grounds on a lead but not inside the motor museum, Palace House, the abbey or the restaurant.
- Some garden and riverside paths are gravel or hoggin — rough for small wheels.
Very safe. The real risks are ponies and donkeys on the road and in car parks (do not feed or touch them), narrow forest lanes with cyclists and walkers, and thin bus service that can strand you after the estate closes.
