Choose Batumi over inland Georgia for a Black Sea beach and promenade stop with a casino-town nightlife scene; best Jun–Sep, one to two nights unless you're purely here for the beach.

Batumi is Georgia's main Black Sea resort, on the southwest coast near the Turkish border. The seafront has a long promenade, modern glass towers and a large botanical garden on the coastal cliffs north of town. It combines a beach-and-casino strip with an older centre of Art Nouveau buildings a few streets back.

The centre and seafront are walkable end to end. Taxis and city buses cover the rest, and the botanical garden is reachable by a coastal minibus or taxi. Trains and marshrutkas link Batumi to Tbilisi in around 5–6 hours.
