The honest verdict
Basseterre is a small port capital that a first visit covers in one full day. What goes wrong is the timing: cruise ships crowd the centre, shops close early and on Sundays, and hot afternoons make walking hard. Four small areas cover the town on foot; beaches, Brimstone Hill and Nevis are trips from one kept bed.
