Barnesville is a small Belmont County village on State Route 800, six miles south of Interstate 70, halfway between Columbus and Pittsburgh. It is a one-night stop on a southeast Ohio drive, not a destination in itself: a restored 26-room Victorian mansion, a railroad depot with a caboose and tunnel, a petroglyph site, a longhorn ranch north of town, and a downtown of antique shops. The last full weekend in September the Pumpkin Festival takes over downtown and fills every bed for miles.

Get around
No public transport. You need a car: State Route 800 runs north–south through the village and meets I-70 six miles north, State Route 147 runs east–west. Downtown is small enough to walk in 10–15 minutes, but the ranch, the petroglyph and the mansion are spread out and are car trips.
