Baoding is a historic city in Hebei, 40 minutes from Beijing by high-speed rail. Its main draw is the well-preserved Office of the Viceroy of Zhili, plus a few museums and the famous donkey meat sandwich. Most travellers pass through on a day trip or stop for one night en route to the Western Qing Tombs or Baiyang Lake.
