Bankapura
Skip Bankapura unless you are a birdwatcher or a Chalukya temple enthusiast: half a day is enough for the fort, peacock sanctuary and 12th-century temple, then sleep in Haveri or Hubballi.
Bankapura is a small historical town in Central Karnataka, 22 km from Haveri on NH-48. Its main draws are a ruined fort, a peacock sanctuary and a partially destroyed 12th-century Chalukya temple. Food and lodging are very limited; most travellers pass through on the way to Hubballi or Badami.
