Bakassi
Skip Bakassi as a destination: the town is a refuge settlement with one beach and one hotel, best visited as a half-day trip from Calabar only if you have a specific interest in the peninsula's history.
Bakassi is a small town and local government headquarters in Cross River State, created as a refuge for people who chose Nigerian citizenship after the peninsula was ceded to Cameroon. It has one sandy beach (Ikang Beach), a basic hotel and limited services. Most travellers have no reason to visit unless they are researching the Bakassi conflict or passing through to the peninsula border area.
