Baie-Trinité
Stop one night on Route 138 for the Pointe-des-Monts lighthouse and the low-tide sandstone; two nights only if you fish or hike the coastal path.
Baie-Trinité is a small North Shore municipality on Route 138, made up of three village sectors and a scatter of hamlets along the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The draw is the 1830 Pointe-des-Monts lighthouse and its museum, the coastal walking path, shore fishing where deep water sits close in, and wide sandstone flats at low tide. Services are thin: one convenience store with gas, a grocery, a fish shop and a handful of places to eat and sleep. Come between June and September, book beds ahead, and treat it as a one-night halt on the drive between Baie-Comeau and Godbout rather than a destination in itself.

A car is the practical way: Route 138 is the only through road and services sit along it. Chemin du Vieux Phare runs about 11 km from the highway to Pointe-des-Monts and continues roughly 2 km along the coast. Intercar coaches on the Québec City–Baie-Comeau route stop on Route 138, but they will not get you to the lighthouse.
