Azrou
A half-day stop on the Fez–Meknes–Middle Atlas loop: see the Barbary macaques, walk a national-park trail, then move on. One night only if you want a quiet base for hiking.
Azrou is a Berber market town inside Ifrane National Park, with 50,000 people and a relaxed square. It has no blockbuster sight, but the park office gives maps, and wild Barbary macaques gather at Moudmane junction a few kilometres out. Most travellers use it as a lunch-and-walk stop between Fez and Midelt or Zaouiate Oued Ifrane.
