Avery Island is a salt dome in southern Louisiana, home to the McIlhenny Tabasco factory and Jungle Gardens. Most visitors come for the self-guided factory tour and the 250-acre subtropical garden with a bird sanctuary. The island is a half-day stop, not an overnight destination.
