Aurora is a town of about 62,000 on the GO Barrie line, 50 minutes north of Toronto. Its draw is a preserved 19th-century main street on Yonge Street, a National Historic Site house museum, and 100 acres of free arboretum. It is a half-day stop between Richmond Hill and Newmarket, or a cheaper bed for a Toronto trip with a car.

York Region Transit local routes and the Viva Blue express run along Yonge Street; cash fare $4.65 (2026). GO trains on the Barrie line stop at Aurora GO, roughly every 15–30 min southbound at weekday morning peak and hourly evenings and weekends, with GO bus connections north to Barrie. A car makes the arboretum and the 404 hotels easy; the historic core is walkable in 10 minutes end to end.
