Atapuerca
Half a day for the archaeological site and CAREX; skip the village itself unless you're walking the Camino de Santiago.
Atapuerca is a tiny village in Castile and León, famous for the nearby archaeological site that rewrote the story of early humans in Europe. The site and the Centre for Experimental Archaeology (CAREX) are the only reasons to stop. Most visitors come as a day trip from Burgos or as a Camino stage.
