Ashburn is a data-centre and tech suburb of Washington, DC in Loudoun County, about 5 miles (8 km) from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). It has almost no old-town core: housing, offices and shopping are spread along Route 7, Route 28 and the Dulles Greenway, and the western end of the Metro Silver Line terminates here. Most visitors sleep one night near the airport or use Ashburn as a cheaper base for DC and Loudoun County wine country. Two nights is enough; a car makes the stay far easier.

Get around
A car is the practical default: neighbourhoods, shops and offices are too spread out to walk between.
