Ashanti-Kwahu is Ghana's interior: the old Asante kingdom around Kumasi, the craft villages that feed its markets, and the Kwahu Plateau to the east. It is a 4–5 hour road trip from Accra each way, so it earns its place on a 7-day-plus trip rather than a short one. Sleep in Kumasi, use it as the base, and treat the smaller towns as half-day or overnight stops.
