Ascea
Ascea is a quiet base for the Velia ruins and Cilento beaches: 1–2 nights, or a day-trip from Salerno or Paestum.
Ascea is a small town on the Cilento coast, best known for the Greek ruins of Velia and its long sandy beach at Marina di Ascea. It's a relaxed alternative to the Amalfi Coast, with good seafood and easy train access. Most visitors come for a day or two, combining the archaeological site with swimming and local food.
