Arrecife
Base in Arrecife for 1–2 nights only if you want the island's capital and airport; most travellers sleep in Costa Teguise or Puerto del Carmen instead.
Arrecife is Lanzarote's capital and its airport and ferry port, but it is a working town, not a beach resort. Its sights — two small castles, a lagoon, a parish church — fill a half day. Most visitors land at ACE and are transferred straight to Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca. Stay here only if you want cheap beds, a real town, or an early flight.

Get around
The centre is small enough to walk. There is no separate city bus network: island guaguas (buses) run from the Estación de Guaguas and the Intercambiador de Guaguas near Playa del Reducto. Taxis are plentiful but there is no ride-hailing app on Lanzarote. E-scooters (Superpedestrian Link) cover Arrecife, Playa Honda, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise via an app.
