Armagh is a small cathedral city of about 16,400 people, an hour by bus from Belfast and close to the Republic's border. Both St Patrick's cathedrals sit on neighbouring hills, the 1771 Robinson Library holds Swift's own corrected Gulliver, and Navan Fort is two miles west. It works as a day trip from Belfast or a single overnight, not as a touring base unless you drive.

Get around
The centre is small enough to walk: bus station to either cathedral is under 15 minutes. Ulsterbus 73 passes Navan Fort on the Killylea Road but runs a sparse service, so take a taxi (about 5 minutes) or drive. National Cycleway 91 and Route 95 pass through on-road. Taxis: Callan, Eurocabs and Diamond (numbers in the pocket card).
