Download the offline map for every region on your route, save your hotel and first transfer address in Spanish, and add a payment card to Uber or Cabify if you plan to use it in Buenos Aires. A translation app with a downloaded Spanish pack is worth having for pharmacies, bus terminals and small restaurants where English is thin.

For city transit in Buenos Aires, BA Cómo Llego covers buses, subte and trains with a route planner; it is the local equivalent of a transit app and works without an account. For long-distance buses, Plataforma 10 and Central de Pasajes both search and sell tickets across companies; buy a day or two ahead on popular routes in high season. For flights, the three main carriers each have their own app, and fares change fast, so price-check across all three rather than booking the first one you open.

WhatsApp is the default channel for confirming a tour pickup, a hostel check-in time or a restaurant reservation. Save numbers with the +54 9 prefix. For money, Mercado Pago is the QR wallet most Argentines use; foreign cards work for contactless, but carrying some cash is still useful for small vendors and rural areas.
