Ardrossan
Go for one night only if you are catching the Arran ferry; otherwise skip and stay in Ayr, Troon or Largs.
Ardrossan is a working Clyde port in North Ayrshire, part of the Three Towns with Saltcoats and Stevenston. It has few sights: the main reason to come is the CalMac ferry to Brodick on the Isle of Arran, 55 minutes across the Firth of Clyde. Most travellers use it as a ferry staging post, not a destination.
