Anaktuvuk Pass
Skip unless you have a specific reason to visit the last Inupiat settlement in the Brooks Range: 2 nights, fly in and out from Fairbanks or Utqiagvik.
Anaktuvuk Pass is a remote Inupiat village of about 300 people, set at 2,200 ft in the central Brooks Range. It is the only remaining inland settlement of the Nunamiut people. The draw is cultural: the Simon Paneak Memorial Museum and the Gates of the Arctic National Park headquarters. There is no road access — you fly in. Most travellers skip it unless they are on a dedicated Arctic Alaska trip.
