- Long trails such as Sertão Zen and Rio Macaco need a guide and, for some, a 4WD.
- Card and ATM coverage is thin outside the centre; carry some cash for entrance fees and small eateries.
- Distances look short on the map but the last stretch is often dirt road: add time.
The town is calm and low-crime; the real risks are on the trails and dirt roads — slick rock at Vale da Lua, unguided long hikes, and rain that closes access. Tell someone your plan and carry water.
