Aldan is a small gold-mining town in the Aldan Highlands, about 470 km south of Yakutsk by road and roughly 11 hours by rail on the Tynda–Nizhny Bestyakh line, which stops here daily at 22:04. It has a compact centre, a local-lore museum, an Orthodox church and the Lena waterfalls 10 km out. It is a one-night stop for travellers already moving through Yakutia, not a destination on its own.
