Alcamo Marina
Go for 2–3 nights in June or September if you want a cheap beach base; skip it in winter, when the resort is largely shut.
Alcamo Marina is a 7 km strip of holiday houses, lidos and pizzerias on the Gulf of Castellammare, in the territory of Alcamo. It has almost no old town and no single centre: you come for the sand, the low prices and the short drive to Scopello, Segesta and Erice. Two or three nights is enough; a car makes it work.

Scams and watch-outs

- The beach strip is split by the SS187 and the railway; use the level crossings and don't cut across the tracks.
- Parking is limited to a few areas (Piazzale Canalotto, Piazzale Battigia, near the station, along Via del Mare); summer evenings fill up.
- Sea conditions change fast with the wind; swim near a lido with a rescue service.
- Some flats are let by the week in high season and ask for a minimum stay.
A calm family beach resort; the real issues are seasonal closures, the railway and SS187 cutting the strip, and swimming where there is no rescue service. Petty theft from parked cars and unattended beach bags is the usual summer risk.
