Akron is a former rubber capital of about 200,000 people in Northeast Ohio, an hour south of Cleveland by car on I-77. Its draws are spread across town — a Tudor mansion, a modern art museum, a minor-league ballpark and a towpath trail — so a car or rideshare makes the day work. Most travellers pass through for one night or use it as a cheaper base for Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Canton hall of fame.

Get around
METRO RTA buses cover the main corridors but run on limited schedules; most visitors drive or use rideshare. I-76, I-77, Route 8 and Route 59 (Innerbelt) put almost everything within 10 minutes of an expressway, and rush hour is short. Taxis and rideshare are thin late at night — book ahead.
