Getting into the city
LAS is one of the closest major US airports to its city centre. The Strip begins roughly 5 km north of the terminals, and downtown Las Vegas is about 8–10 km away. That short distance is why most visitors take a car rather than look for a train: there is no rail or metro link from the airport into the city.
Taxis and ride-hailing cars are the default. Off-peak the run to a Strip hotel takes 10–20 minutes; on a Friday evening or during a big convention it can take twice as long. Fares are metered and an airport surcharge applies — check the posted rate card at the rank. Ride-hailing pickups are signposted in designated zones, not at the taxi rank.
Shared shuttle vans run to Strip and downtown hotels and cost less than a taxi if you are travelling alone, but you may wait for the van to fill and stop at several hotels. Public buses are the cheapest option and stop at the terminals, though they are slower and less useful with luggage.

Las Vegas runs around the clock, and the airport is busy at 01:00 as well as at noon. Taxis and ride-hailing operate 24 hours, and the ranks and pickup zones stay staffed. This is one of the easiest US airports to arrive at after midnight.
Public buses are the weak point: service thins out after midnight and some routes stop altogether. If you land in the small hours and want to save money, a shared shuttle or a pre-booked car is more reliable than waiting for a bus.
Hotel check-in desks on the Strip are generally staffed 24 hours, but a few smaller properties close their front desk overnight — check your booking before a very late arrival.
Lounges
LAS has several pay-per-use and airline lounges across the terminals, including locations in the main domestic concourses. Access rules depend on your airline, cabin, status or a day pass, and the list of open lounges changes as terminals are rebuilt — check with your airline or the airport's own site before you count on one.
If you do not have access, the terminals have plenty of seating, food courts and bars, and the short taxi ride into town means you rarely need to kill more than two hours here.
