Aioi
相生
Skip Aioi unless you need a quiet Shinkansen stop or are visiting the Kanjōsan Castle Ruins: half a day is enough.
Aioi is a small port city on the Sanyo Shinkansen line between Himeji and Okayama. Its main draw is the 13th-century Kanjōsan Castle Ruins, a Muromachi-period site on a hill. Most travellers pass through without stopping; the city works as a brief break on a longer journey or as a quiet base for exploring western Hyogo.
