Adrogué
Go for a half-day from Buenos Aires: leafy streets, 1870s summer houses and empanadas, 30 min by train from Constitución. Sleep here only for a quiet base.
Adrogué is the capital of Almirante Brown partido, 23 km south of downtown Buenos Aires, and it works as a low-key half-day escape rather than a destination in its own right. The draw is the residential grid of cobbled streets under old trees, a cluster of French, Italian and English-style summer houses built between 1870 and 1930, and a compact commercial centre a few metres east of the train station. Trains from Constitución take about 28 minutes, so you can leave after breakfast and be back in the city for dinner.
