Accrington is a small East Lancashire mill town of about 35,000 people, five miles east of Blackburn. Its one stand-out sight is the Haworth Art Gallery and its Tiffany glass, the most important group of its kind in Europe. The Victorian market, the football club and the Pennine moors above town fill the rest of a short visit. Most travellers see it as a half-day stop between Blackburn, Burnley and Manchester rather than a place to sleep.

Get around
The town centre is walkable: the station, market hall and main streets sit within about 10 minutes on foot. Local buses 6 and 7 run to Blackburn roughly every 8 minutes Monday to Saturday and every 20 minutes on Sundays, also serving Rishton, Great Harwood, Clayton-le-Moors and Oswaldtwistle. Bus 9 links Accrington and Burnley in about 30 minutes on weekdays, and bus M3 runs hourly up the valley through Padiham, Burnley, Nelson and Colne to Trawden. Short taxi hops in town are about £3–5.
