Abereiddy
Abereiddi
Give Abereiddy half a day: Blue Lagoon and the beach on foot, then sleep in St Davids or Porthgain — the village itself has no hotel.
Abereiddy is a tiny north Pembrokeshire cove with a slate-quarry lagoon, a dark-sand beach and a car park, about 8.5 km from St Davids. It is a stop on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, not a town: come for the Blue Lagoon and coasteering, then move on to St Davids or Porthgain for beds and food.

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Handshake at first meeting; 'hi' and first names quickly; avoid: Cheek kisses with strangers
- Conversation: Weather is a safe opener; understatement and self-deprecating humour; avoid: Asking about salary or class
- Queues: Join at the back; avoid: Pushing onto buses or trains before others get off
- Apologies: 'Sorry' is said constantly, even when not at fault; avoid: Taking it as an admission of blame
- Pubs: Buy rounds in a group; wait at the bar without waving money; avoid: Clicking fingers at staff
- Nations: Call Scots Scottish and Welsh Welsh; avoid: Calling the whole UK 'England'
Scams and watch-outs
- The 404 shuttle is seasonal: daily in summer, Thursday and Saturday only from October to May — check the current timetable before relying on it.
- Public toilets at the car park open Easter to October half term only.
- The Blue Lagoon is tidal and about 25 m deep: swim or jump only with a guided group or local knowledge.
- Traeth Llyfn is reached by 124 steep steps down a 90-foot cliff; not for small children or heavy bags.
- Mobile signal is patchy in the coves; download offline maps before you drive in.
Very safe for a rural coastal village. The real risks are the sea and the cliffs: cold water, tidal lagoons, slippery slate and steep steps. Tell someone your coast-path plan and carry a charged phone.
