- Mlilwane means little fire; it was set up in the 1960s to protect a private farm's wildlife and became the country's first protected area.
- There are no large predators such as lion; the large animals are hippo, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest and many antelope (check the current list).
- Take repellent, sun protection and water.
- Roads within the park are gravel; a normal car is fine in dry weather.
