Know before you go
- The square is ringed by the Capitolio Nacional (Congress), the Palacio de Justicia, the Alcaldía Mayor (city hall) and the Catedral Primada: none open for casual tourist entry, so this is a look-and-photograph stop, not a ticketed visit.
- Check local news before going — the plaza is Colombia's default site for protests and marches, and can close or turn tense with little warning.
