  • The Bock promontory is where Count Siegfried built his castle in 963, the origin of the city; the tunnels were dug from the 17th century onward and extended over centuries.
  • Together with the surrounding fortifications, the old quarters are a UNESCO World Heritage site (1994).
  • The passages are damp, cool and steep: wear shoes with grip and carry a layer.

  2. 2Walk down from the Ville Haute by the Montée de Clausen and buy the ticket at the entrance.
  3. 3Follow the marked route through the tunnels and galleries, with viewpoints over the Alzette valley and the Grund.
