Know before you go
- Named for the Panfilov Division, whose soldiers are honoured for the defence of Moscow in 1941; the memorial sculpture group and eternal flame sit at the park's centre.
- The park occupies part of the grounds of the old Fort Verny; Zenkov Cathedral, at its edge, predates the park's current landscaping.
- Old-growth trees (mostly poplar and maple) give continuous shade — one of the few genuinely cool outdoor walks in a July afternoon.
