Know before you go

  • The park was built by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture on a centuries-old rubbish-tip mound; excavation during construction uncovered a stretch of the Ayyubid city wall, now exposed on the park's western edge.
  • The clearest photograph of the Citadel skyline is from the park's upper terraces, best about an hour before sunset.
  • There is a paid restaurant/café terrace inside; bringing your own food and drink for the lawns is generally fine (check the gate rules on the day).
