The present cathedral dates from 1845, rebuilt after an 1843 earthquake; the twin towers are a landmark from the harbour.
Two carved figures at the south gate are said to have come from a French ship taken in the 18th century (a local tradition; check).
The interior is lined in pitch pine, a habit meant to help the roof survive earthquakes and hurricanes.
It is an active Anglican cathedral: services take priority, so go outside Sunday and service times.
