The honest verdict

Malabo is compact but slow to work with. A hotel near the plaza puts the cathedral and the seafront within a short taxi ride, and most stops are outdoors. The trips that go wrong are the unprepared ones: no visa in advance, a camera pointed at a government building, cards that do not work, or a taxi fare agreed too late. Keep the plan short and keep your papers on you.
